September 2018 Meeting Minutes

September 4, 2018

The LEO club advertised itself at the freshmen first day, where freshmen were encouraged to join the club. We had a table, banner, and sign, which hopefully got some people interested. Around 25 people chose to take application, and hopefully many of them will show up to join the club and participate in activities. Hopefully word of mouth can work as well, and will attract more dedicated people to join the club.

This meeting was opened with an intro by Mr. Langan. The theme of this was that we needed to "give back." We all have an obligation to help the less fortunate, and hopefully Leo Club can help begin to lead members on that path if they are not already there. He also spoke about our founder, Hellen Keller, and what LEO meant - Leadership Experience Opportunity.

Noah Jordan, with occasional interventions from the other officers, then proceeded to speak about what the LEO Club is. After this, he reviewed projects that we plan on doing, including the Kettle Korn fundraiser and the ramp build. In addition, the Food Bank was discussed and so was the November Book Drive, which we now believe will be around Sunday November 12th. Both Noah and Mr. Langan discussed and expressed the meaningfulness of Santa's Angels.

Members expressed interest in going to Arlington Cemetery again to participate in Wreaths Across America. They also turned in paperwork and permission slips for the ramp build at the end.

This was the first fundraiser game. All of the 94 remaining bags (6 were sold directly) were sold at this fundraiser, meaning it was a great success. This makes a total of 100 bags sold, with profit at $250.

This football game was not nearly as successful, but a decent number of bags were sold (around 30). It goes to show how other food sources and smaller crowds are really what make the difference.
